Srinagar: The Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Students and Youth Forum (JKSYF), Hamza Haider, has strongly condemned the wave of attacks, harassment, and intimidation faced by Kashmiri students across India in the aftermath of the recent militant incident in Pahalgam.

In a press statement, Hamza Haider said that Kashmiri students in multiple Indian states have been subjected to violence, threats, and communal abuse. Many students have reportedly been forced to vacate their rented accommodations and university hostels, as right-wing mobs launched targeted attacks.

He stated that Hindu extremist groups, emboldened by a climate of impunity, harassed students, vandalized hostel property, and physically assaulted residents. In Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand, around 20 Kashmiri students were forced to flee to the airport after threats from members of the fringe group Hindu Raksha Dal.

Hamza Haider further reported that students at the Universal Group of Institutions in Derabassi, Punjab, were attacked when assailants broke into their hostel at midnight. The attackers allegedly tore students' clothes and injured at least one student with a sharp weapon, while campus security failed to intervene.

The JKSYF Chairman has demanded an immediate halt to these attacks and called on the authorities to ensure the safe return of Kashmiri students to their homeland.
