Justice Tariq Jahangiri moves SC for hearing his appeal plea soon


Islamabad: Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri while filing a miscellaneous petition in Supreme Court (SC) has requested to hear his appeal plea soon in the matter of restraining him from doing judicial work.



He has taken plea in his petition his appeal plea be fixed for hearing during current judicial week from September 22 to September 26 for hearing so that he could discharge his judicial duties again.



He said order for restraining him from doing judicial work was issued without hearing his stance which runs contrary to the basic norms of justice.



He took the plea he was stopped from doing judicial work without deciding the maintainability of the petition filed against him in Islamabad High Court (IHC). This is leaving negative impact on the judicial system.



If judges are stopped from doing judicial work without any final decision merely on the basis of complaints or petitions then it will set a dangerous precedent and a new flood gate of cases will open.



He appealed to Supreme Court to interfere immediately and curb such incidents so that the dignity and continuity of judiciary could be ensured.



He stressed in his petition that his appeal plea be fixed for hearing this week.
