Islamabad: Russia’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Albert P. Khorev has said that Kashmir issue is a bilateral matter between Pakistan and India and should be resolved in accordance with the Simla Agreement and the Lahore Declaration.
Albert P. Khorev said that Russia views the defense agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia with high regard. He stated that there are many reasons behind the Pakistan-Saudi Arabia defense pact, one of which is Israel’s attack on Qatar. He added that if the United States is serious about the war on terrorism, it should unfreeze Afghanistan’s $10 billion in assets.
Albert P. Khorev said that Kyiv government and its European curators undermined steps toward conflict resolution. In his speech of the Russian Ambassador to Pakistan Albert P. Khorev at the briefing on international issues said, ‘In May 2025, at the initiative of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the resumption of direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine began, which the Ukrainian side had suspended back in April 2022. As a positive result of the three rounds of talks, prisoner exchanges were carried out. At the same time, however, Kyiv showed hesitation in discussing concrete details of a possible ceasefire and the mechanisms for its verification.’
This is no coincidence, but rather a continuation of the deliberate policy of the Kyiv government and its European curators to undermine steps toward conflict resolution. Since March of this year, Ukrainians have had three opportunities to demonstrate their ability to negotiate and their commitment to peace:
‘In March, Kyiv ignored the chance to halt mutual strikes on energy infrastructure for 30 days; From 19 to 21 April, during the Easter truce, it refused to cease hostilities, violating it 4,900 times in total; and again, it rejected Vladimir Putin’s proposal to suspend fighting from 9 to 11 May,’ he added.
He said, ‘Nevertheless, Ukraine and European countries insist on an immediate ceasefire along the entire front line. A logical question arises: how does Ukraine plan to maintain a complete ceasefire when, throughout this year, we have seen the Kyiv government’s total unwillingness and reluctance to observe even more limited ceasefires?’
‘The answer is obvious. Ukraine needs this ceasefire not, as the Western countries claim, to bring the conflict closer to a peaceful resolution, but rather to use European military and financial aid to reorganize and rearm its forces. Since the beginning of the special military operation, total aid has reached about 70.2 billion US dollars. Russia is firmly opposed to this option,’ the ambassador said.
‘Thus, it is essential to understand that the Western obsession with a temporary cessation of hostilities has nothing to do with concern for human lives. Ukraine’s patrons need a pause to give Kyiv breathing space, to reorganize its forces, and to provide it with more weapons in preparation for a new round of military action against Russia,’ Albert P. Khorev remarked.
‘I would like to thank the Government of Pakistan once again for its consistent policy of neutrality in the Ukraine conflict, including at the UN, despite pressure from external forces. Pakistan strongly supports a diplomatic resolution to the conflict, a position that aligns with Russia’s stance on the issue’ Albert P. Khorev said.
