Lahore Police intensify security with 10,000 personnel for ICC Champions Trophy

Lahore: As per an official handout from DIG Operations Lahore, In preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy matches in Lahore, Lahore Police, in collaboration with other security agencies, conducted a mock security drill at Gaddafi Stadium and its surroundings.Under the directives of DIG Operations Faisal Kamran, a Safe Evacuation Operation emergency drill was carried out. Various security forces participated in the exercise, including:Lahore Police, Pakistan Army, Rangers, Elite Force, Bomb Disposal Squad, Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), Special Branch and Rescue 1122. The emergency drill was overseen by SP Security Abdul Wahab and SP Model Town IkhlaqUllahTarar.DIG Operations Faisal Kamran stated that this mock exercise demonstrated the immediate response of security forces in any emergency. The security plan was tested in real-time scenarios to ensure preparedness.He further informed that 10,000 officers and personnel will be on duty to secure the Champions Trophy matches. Quick Response Forces (QRF) ha ve been equipped with modern security gear to handle emergencies effectively.DIG Operations emphasized that despite a four-tier security perimeter, police are fully prepared for any unforeseen situation. The primary objective of the mock exercise was to strengthen coordination among security forces in emergency situations.ICC security teams have expressed complete confidence in Lahore Police's security plan.
