Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) has constituted committee to work out education calendar and rules in regard to private schools vacation in Punjab.
Justice Jawad Hassan maintained committee should hold its first meeting on September 11 and present implementation report on September 16.
All Pakistan Private School Management Association had challenged notification regarding increase in schools vacations in LHC.
The petitioner took the plea no education calendar has been provided by the government. Private schools make educational calendars on their own keeping in view syllabus. The notification issued by Punjab government regarding increase in vacations is illegal. Therefore, court should declare notification null and void and order to make rules.
The state counsel told the court summer vacations have been increased as per law. Precautionary measures were taken in
view of climate situation and alert issued by PDMA.
Justice Jawad Hassan ordered school education Punjab department to work out special rules for education year.
The court also issued orders for constituting a 13-member committee comprising secretary special education, Advocate General Punjab, law secretary and others.
The court wrote in the decision committee will frame rules `with reference to academic year particularly proposal for vacation. First meeting of committee will be held in the office of secretary Schools Education on September 11.
