LHC orders for presenting rules, protocols of polygraph test

Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered to present rules and protocols of polygraph test.

The case against taking polygraph test on the basis of affidavit came up for hearing in Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday.

Justice Ali Zia Bajwa took up the case for hearing.

Prosecutor General Punjab Syed Farhad Ali Shah and other officers appeared on the order of court.

The petitioner has challenged the status of polygraph test on the basis of affidavit.

Justice Ali Zia Bajwa maintained during the hearing of the case the status of taking polygraph test on affidavit is next to nil. If statement of any one is needed to be taken then it can be taken before magistrate. No one has more importance than the expert opinion in polygraph test.

Prosecutor General Punjab Syed Farhad Ali Shah told the court becoming witness himself by the expert after making report is grave violation of the law. The wrong practice will continue to run this way unless the SOPs are made.

Justice Ali Zia Bajwa said this report has no importance than a statement given before court. Prosecutor General directs to monitor the law then he should exercise his powers. Dr Amjid, DG Forensic Science Agency be called. Prosecutor General should call DG in his office and tell him about SOPs. Decision of high court is already there. All reports should be presented in the court.

The court while adjourning hearing of the case till May 6 summoned counsels of the respondents for arguments.
