Islamabad: Power division has announced to observe load shedding for 2 hours and 15 minutes load shedding daily in peak hours.

In a statement regarding the peak hours relief strategy, spokesperson said the government is facing a major challenge due to increased electricity demand, particularly between 5:00 PM and 1:00 AM. To manage the load, scheduled outages will be implemented during this period.

Power division spokesperson has said in his statement on peak hours relief strategy government is facing challenge of surge in consumption of electricity in peak hours. Load shedding for 2.15 hours will be observed daily between 5 p.m to 1 a.m .

The spokesperson has said DISCOs have been directed to share schedule of outage timing with consumers. Government will take every such steps which provide relief to people.

The demand of the electricity can be curtailed through timely closure of commercial markets at federal and provincial level. The likely hike in the prices of electricity can be slashed by decreasing electricity demand. The possible hike in power tariff can be stopped through minimum use of costly fuel.

Consumers was given relief of Rs 46 billion from July to February. The cost of electricity was curtailed by paisas 71 per unit despite rise in fuel prices.

The production of electricity in the country is stable despite hard situation at international level. At present we are able to generate electricity as per requirements too.

The spokesperson said 80 MMCFFD has been provided to local gas power plants. This way hike in power tariff by 80 paisas per unit and additional load management has been stopped.

Load management is aimed at preventing likely hike in tariff by Rs 3 per unit.

However, even with limited use of furnace oil, consumers may still face an increase of about Rs1.5 per unit. Without timely intervention, the increase could have reached Rs5 to Rs6 per unit.
