Meeting of Alkhidmat Foundation’s Clean Drinking Water Program held in the presence of water experts, central office-bearers

LAHORE: Meeting of the Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan's Clean Drinking Water Program held at Alkhidmat Complex in Lahore on Monday.

In the meeting, performance of Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan's Clean Drinking Water project was evaluated and future strategy was formulated. Along with provision of clean drinking water, the meeting also took stock of suggestions in connection with water and sanitation as well as hygiene matters.

President Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan Professor Dr. Hafeezur Rehman chaired the meeting. Participants included former chairman of the Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority's Shakeel A Khan, vice presidents Alkhidmat Foundation Syed Ihsan Ullah Waqas and Muhammad Abdul Shakoor, President Alkhidmat Central Punjab Ikramul Haq Subhani, National Director Rashid Dawood, Dr. Rana Akhtar, experts of water field and office-bearers concerned.

Prof. Dr. Hafeezur Rehman addressing on the occasion, said that Alkhidmat Foundation along with running awareness campaign on scarcity of water, polluted water and its hazards, has also been working on projects of provision of clean drinking water as per needs of every area of the country.

At present, he noted through 246 water filtration plants, 2483 wells, 12074 handpumps, 1850 submersible pumps, 320 solar sub mersible pumps and 148 gravity flow water scheme, more than 4.8 million of individuals were being provided with clean drinking water. Through the clean drinking water projects, he added Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan was striving for the establishment of healthful society.

Addressing on the occasion, Syed Ihsan Ullah Waqas said Alkhidmat Foundation not only provided potable water to the victims of recent floods through mobile filtration plants but it is also working on colonization of lands in Tharparkar and Cholistan like areas through solar technology.

Under Alkhidmat Tameer E Watan Program, 742 projects of clean drinking water have been completed in floods affected areas of the country, he said, adding millions of individuals were benefitting from them whereas more than 700 projects were in the final stages of completion.

On the occasion, Shakeel A Khan appreciated the services of Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan for the humanity. “In the light of worsening situation of water, all the social organisations need to cooperate in unison. We need to take prompt steps for recycling water,” he added.
