Lahore: "Land is not an inheritance but a trust of future generations, its protection is our first and foremost duty," said Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif in her message on World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought. She added,"Climate change, indiscriminate cutting of trees and water scarcity are rapidly affecting agricultural resources and soil fertility."She highlighted,"Drought is not just a name of increasing layers of sand but is a precursor to a serious crisis."

Madam Chief Minister said,"Punjab government is fully aware of every challenge related to the environment." She added,"Special funds have been allocated in the budget 2025-26 for geotagging of water-scarce areas across Punjab." She underscored,"The task of installing new filtration plants and repairing existing plants across Punjab will be completed."

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said,"We are working for environmental protection and better management of natural resources." She added,"Punjab has introduced Pakistan's first comprehensive climate policy to effectively deal with the climate change issue."

Madam Chief Minister said,"Plant for Pakistan campaign to make barren lands green is successfully underway." She added,"Every tree is a symbol of life for the drought-stricken desert." She vowed,"We will not let the earth's breath stop, the environment will change only if we change our habits."
