Muzzammil Ayyub Thakur presents the case of Kashmir at 52nd Session of United Nations Human Rights Council

GENEVA: Muzzammil Ayyub Thakur, President World Kashmir Freedom Movement presented the case of Kashmir at 52nd Session of United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC).

Addressing the President, Muzzammil Ayyub Thakur said that the delegates from Indian Occupied Kashmir visit this council often, to alert the respected members to the ongoing atrocities that has exponentially increased over 75 years. “Today I convey to you the exact words from Kashmir” he said.

Muzzammil Ayyub Thakur said that there are none Mr President. Because they’re all in jail, murdered or too afraid. PhD scholars like Aala Fazili and Journalists like Asif Sultan, Fahad Shah and Sajad Gul, languish in jail for years on false terror charges, and only yesterday another journalist, Irfan Mehraj was arrested, with UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights Defenders Mary lawlor tweeted her concerns less than 24 hours ago, and Amnesty International terming his arrest as "yet another crackdown on media freedoms". Political leaders like Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, murdered. Even members of the civil society like Ahsan Untoo and Khurram Parvez, the same multi award winning Khurram who the UN quotes, are behind bars.

He said that our expectations are reasonable and realistic. Muzzammil Ayyub Thakur said that implement the Security Council resolutions, protect Kashmiris facing genocide and ethnic cleansing, reverse the settler colonial project to force demographic change and if I may add, classify everyone involved in the 75 year annihilation of Kashmir and its people, as war criminals, be they civilian or military, which today includes Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Defence Minister Raj Nath Singh, Law & Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju, the entire BJP government and every mouthpiece in the Indian Media.

Muzzammil Ayyub Thakur said that the world saw fit to categorise Slobodan Milsovic, Kim Jong Un, Aung San Su Kyi & Vladimir Putin, so there shouldn’t be any selective approaches when it comes to crimes committed by India.

He said that the people of Kashmir may not be able to speak freely, but they’re certainly watching and listening keenly to the United Nations.
