Narowal Sports City to Be Opened Before South Asian Games Next Year

Narowal: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Prof Ahsan Iqbal presided over a meeting regarding the administrative matters of Narowal Sports City. The meeting was attended by Vice Chancellor University of Narowal Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younis, Federal Secretary for Inter Provincial Coordination Nadeem Irshad Kayani, DG Pakistan Sports Board and Additional Secretary Inter Provincial Coordination Zahoor Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner Narowal Syed Hasan Raza, Focal Person Narowal Sports City Farooq Azam and representatives of the Higher Education Commission and Pakistan Sports Board. After the handover of Narowal Sports City from the Pakistan Sports Board to the University of Narowal, a three-member committee comprising representatives of Vice Chancellor University of Narowal, Pakistan Sports Board and Higher Education Commission was formed to run the administrative and financial affairs of Narowal Sports City. The committee will ensure speedy completion of the ongoing development project s in the Sports City and ensure the payment of these projects so that the Narowal Sports City can be opened for all sports as soon as possible. On this occasion, Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Prof Ahsan Iqbal issued instructions to the executing agencies to complete the restoration work of squash and badminton halls, basketball, cricket, football and hockey grounds and hostels of Sports City in Narowal Sports City as soon as possible. Besides, instructions were given to build a Kabaddi ground in Sports City and to complete all the matters including electricity as soon as possible. Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Prof Ahsan Iqbal has said that the government is committed to prepare Narowal Sports City according to international standards before the South Asian Games next year. He said that before the South Asian Games are held next year, Narowal Sports City will have to be prepared according to international standards. Cricket ground wi ll be rebuilt in order to hold first class cricket matches in the ground next season, the minister added. Federal Minister said that he will visit Narowal Sports City every week and will personally monitor the performance of the executing agencies. Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Prof Ahsan Iqbal also paid a detailed visit to Narowal Sports City. Talking to the media, Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Prof Ahsan Iqbal said that the vision of this government is to promote sports. He said that next year Pakistan will host the South Asian Games and before that National Games will be held at the national level. Narowal Sports City projects, which faced the irresponsible policies of the previous PTI government, now must be completed to meet international standards before the South Asian Games, he added. Federal Minister said that coaches for all sports will be present at Narowal Sports City throughout the year to provide international standard tr aining to local talented players and help them raise the flag of Pakistan at the international level.
