Islamabad: The National Press Club (NPC) Islamabad, in collaboration with Google and Tech Valley Pakistan, organized a certified training session focused on digital journalism, information verification, and the use of modern AI-powered reporting tools.

CEO Tech Valley Umar Farooq highlighted the importance of equipping journalists with emerging technologies to strengthen digital reporting skills. Project Manager Sameen Aziz provided practical training on Google AI resources, including Gemini NotebookLM, Pinpoint, Google Trends, and advanced verification tools.

Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) President Afzal Butt said such workshops are essential to help journalists adapt to the rapidly changing media landscape. NPC President Azhar Jatoi reaffirmed the club’s commitment to building the professional capacity of its members. NPC Secretary Nayyar Ali and RIUJ President Tariq Ali Work emphasized the need for journalists to embrace new technologies for improved performance and career growth.

Senior journalist Haji Nawaz Raza noted the industry’s transition from traditional to digital tools, stressing the importance of continuous learning. NPC Senior Vice President Ehtisham-ul-Haq added that AI has become a necessity in modern journalism and will play an increasingly vital role in the future.

At the conclusion of the event, Parliamentary Secretary for Cultural Heritage Farah Naz Akbar, Ambassador of Trkiye to Pakistan Dr. Irfan Neziroglu, Tech Valley CEO Umar Farooq, PFUJ President Afzal Butt, NPC President Azhar Jatoi, and Secretary Nayyer Ali distributed Google certificates among participants.

The workshop was attended by senior officials of NPC and RIUJ, along with a large number of journalists, who termed the training extremely beneficial and expressed a strong desire for more such initiatives in the future.
