Peshawar: PTI central leaders Omar Ayub and senator Shibli Faraz have challenged Election Commission (EC) decision for de-notifying them in Peshawar High Court (PHC).
Both the leaders have filed petition in PHC taking the plea EC decision is illegal, unconstitutional and is based on malafide intent.
They have prayed the court through the petition to nullify the EC decision.
The petitioners pleaded that EC issued decision about their disqualification without hearing them which runs contrary to basic ingredients of justice. Decision was announced without giving them opportunity of defence. Therefore, the decision is illegal.
It is pertinent to mention here that EC had disqualified 9 members of parliament including several key leaders of PTI a day before.
Senator Shibli Faraz, opposition leader in National Assembly (NA) Omar Ayub and others are included in this decision who were de-notified after the court awarded sentence to them in prison in May 9 incident.
