Karachi: In response to appeal by Jamaat-e-islami (JI) Pakistan Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, the JI Karachi organized protest demonstrations across the city on Friday at more than 100 major public locations and outside mosques to express solidarity with Iran and to condemn what the party described as US and Israeli aggression and terrorism against Iran.Protesters carried banners and placards expressing anger against the United States and Israel while chanting slogans.Demonstrators demanded the government and opposition parties to openly condemn the United States and Israel and to announce their support for Iran.Addressing a public gathering titled 'Death to America and Israel' along with a family Iftar dinner in North Karachi organized by Jamaat-e-Islami District Central, JI Karachi Chief Monem Zafar Khan said they salute Iran's courage and steadfastness in the face of what he called open aggression and terrorism by the United States and Israel. He said the people of Karachi stand with their brothers in Gaza and Iran and will not leave them alone in this difficult time. He added that Jamaat-e-Islami has always raised its voice against Israeli aggression and terrorism in Gaza and supported the Palestinian struggle for the liberation of Al-Quds.Monem Zafar Khan further stated that the United States attacked Iran at a time when negotiations with Iran were ongoing and no final decision had been reached. He said the joint attacks by the US and Israel under the pretext of regime change in Iran were acts of open aggression and terrorism and a serious violation of international ethics and laws. He claimed that the attack resulted in the deaths of more than 150 schoolgirls along with senior Iranian leaders, including Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, while major powers claiming to be defenders of human rights remained silent. He warned that the war-driven policies of the US and Israel are putting global peace at serious risk, with the world moving toward a potential Third World War alongside a growing global economic crisis.Referring to Gaza, he said that since October 7, 2023, more than 75,000 people have been killed, two-thirds of them women and children, while about 85 percent of the territory has been reduced to rubble due to Israeli bombardment. He alleged that the US and Israel aim to expel Palestinians from their land, but the people of Gaza continue to resist and refuse to surrender. The gathering was also addressed by Jamaat-e-Islami District North chief Tariq Mujtaba Khan, District Secretary Muhammad Shakeel, and other leaders. A large number of women also attended the event.Demonstrations held across the city were addressed by Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Deputy Chief Saifuddin Advocate, Karachi Secretary Taufiq-ud-Din Siddiqui, Member of the Sindh Assembly Muhammad Farooq Farhan, district leaders and other party officials.
