Islamabad: The Pakistan-Bosnia and Herzegovina Parliamentary Friendship Group and a visiting Bosnian delegation on Monday reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations through enhanced parliamentary cooperation and expanded collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
The meeting was held at Parliament House, Islamabad, between Dr. Nikhat Shakeel Khan, MNA and Convener of the Pakistan-Bosnia and Herzegovina Parliamentary Friendship Group, and a delegation led by H.E. Dr. Sevlid Hurtic, Minister of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The visiting delegation also included H.E. Emin Cohodarevic, Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Pakistan. The delegation is visiting Pakistan to participate in the 9th OIC Ministerial Conference on Women.
Welcoming the delegation, Dr. Nikhat Shakeel Khan highlighted the longstanding and friendly relations between Pakistan and Bosnia and Herzegovina based on mutual respect, shared values and historic solidarity. She recalled Pakistan's unwavering support for Bosnia and Herzegovina and expressed confidence that enhanced parliamentary engagement would further strengthen bilateral ties.
She stressed the importance of promoting cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, education and people-to-people exchanges while reaffirming Pakistan's support for Bosnia and Herzegovina's European integration. Paying tribute to the victims of the Srebrenica Genocide, she reiterated Pakistan's commitment to justice, accountability and preventing such tragedies from recurring.
Dr. Sevlid Hurtic thanked the Convener for the warm welcome and appreciated Pakistan's longstanding friendship and support. He emphasized the need to transform strong political goodwill into practical cooperation through parliamentary exchanges, economic collaboration, business linkages, tourism, education and human rights initiatives.
The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their resolve to further strengthen Pakistan-Bosnia and Herzegovina relations through closer parliamentary cooperation and enhanced collaboration in areas of shared interest.
