Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani on Monday, during which the two sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and supporting regional peace and stability.
According to the Foreign Office, Ishaq Dar thanked the Italian leadership, including Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, for appreciating Pakistan's mediation efforts that helped facilitate the recent understanding reached between the United States and Iran.
Both leaders emphasized the importance of implementing the understandings reached and continuing international efforts aimed at ensuring lasting peace and stability in the region, including Lebanon.
They also welcomed the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, describing it as a positive development for global energy supplies, international trade and the broader world economy.
The two foreign ministers expressed satisfaction over the positive trajectory of Pakistan-Italy relations and welcomed the recent signing of an agreement abolishing visa requirements for holders of diplomatic passports of both countries.
They reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation in all areas of mutual interest and agreed to remain in close contact.
