Islamabad: Pakistan and Uzbekistan have agreed to enhance bilateral parliamentary cooperation and people-to-people contacts.
This came at a meeting between Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Speaker of Uzbekistan's Oliy Majlis Nuriddin Ismailov in Islamabad on Monday.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said parliamentary diplomacy is essential for peace, stability and development in the region. He mentioned that parliamentary delegations from Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, Azerbaijan and Iran are also visiting Pakistan next month.
The Speaker highlighted Gwadar and Karachi ports as vital gateways connecting Uzbekistan to global trade routes.
In his remarks, Nuriddin Ismailov said Pakistan's diplomatic response during the recent Pak-India conflict is admirable.
He said relations between Pakistan and Uzbekistan are based on brotherhood and trust.
