Islamabad: Petition regarding trial of civilians in military courts has been fixed for hearing.Supreme Court (SC) constitutional bench will hear the case on December 9.A 6-member SC constitutional bench presided over by Justice Amin ud Din Khan will hear the case.The other members of bench are justice Jamal Mandokhail, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi, justice Musarrat Hilali and Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan.The SC constitutional bench had not fixed it for hearing due to presence of Justice Ayesha Malik in the bench. Now this case has been fixed for hearing.On July 11, 2024 SC while ordering for not meting out inhuman treatment to the accused persons during hearing of civilians trial in military courts case had adjourned the hearing of the case for indefinite period.A 7-member larger bench of SC presided over by Justice Amin ud Din Khan had heard the appeals regarding trial of civilians in military courts.It is pertinent to mention here Latif Khosa advocate filed petitio n in SC for early hearing of case pertaining to the matter of trial of civilians in military courts.The petitioner requested the court to fix the case for hearing in last week of November.Latif Khosa took plea in the petition that SC had ordered on December 13, 2023 to fix the case in the third week of January. But the case has not been fixed so far despite court's orders.
