Lahore: President Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan, Professor Dr. Hafeezur Rehman, visited five villages in Ganda Singh Wala affected by the overflowing River Sutlej on Wednesday. During the visit, food packages and clean drinking water were distributed among another 100 affected families.
Professor Dr. Hafeezur Rehman was accompanied by Alkhidmat's regional president Ikramul Haq Subhani, CEO Khubaib Bilal, and Senior Manager Media Relations Shoaib Hashmi. At the Talwar Post operational camp in Ganda Singh Wala, Ikramul Haq Subhani briefed the delegation about the ongoing relief efforts.
According to the briefing, stranded villagers are being rescued through four boats and shifted to safer locations. Alkhidmat volunteers, equipped with life jackets and other safety gear, are also providing cooked meals, clean water, animal fodder, and essential supplies to the families trapped across the floodwaters.
A mobile health unit, staffed with both male and female doctors, continues to provide medical services to the affected population, with more than 2,100 patients treated so far. Veterinary camps have also been established for livestock, while Alkhidmat's mobile water filtration plants are supplying clean water to the communities.
Relief activities have been ongoing for the past 15 days, during which hundreds of people have been rescued. The floods have destroyed rice and sesame crops, submerged houses, and washed away cattle in the region.
Expressing satisfaction over the relief operations, Professor Dr. Hafeezur Rehman lauded the commitment of Alkhidmat's officials and volunteers. He pledged that all available resources would be utilised to support the flood-affected communities.
