Islamabad: President of Pakistan paid tribute to the 22 Kashmiri martyrs of 1931 on the occasion of the 95th Kashmir Martyrs' Day (Youm-e-Shuhada-e-Kashmir), reaffirming Pakistan's unwavering support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir and their right to self-determination.
In his message, the President said the people of Pakistan stand in solidarity with their Kashmiri brethren in commemorating the sacrifices of the martyrs who laid down their lives during the indiscriminate firing by Dogra forces in 1931.
He said the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) continue to face repression under Indian occupation, adding that India's unilateral actions of August 5, 2019, were aimed at altering the disputed territory's demographic composition and undermining the identity of the Kashmiri people.
The President urged India to end human rights violations in IIOJK, release all political prisoners, lift restrictions imposed on the people of the occupied territory and cease attempts to change its demographic structure.
He also called upon the international community to play its role in ensuring respect for human rights in IIOJK and support a peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
The President prayed for the martyrs of Kashmir and reiterated that Pakistan would continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with the people of Jammu and Kashmir in support of their just cause.
