Punjab govt approves the proposal for constructing 17 mini dams in the province

Lahore: Punjab government has decided to get vacate flood zones in the province besides approving the proposal for constructing 17 mini dams.

A special meeting under the Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Maryam Nawaz was held with reference to post flood arrangements.

Several important decisions were made in the meeting on protection against the floods and dealing with emergency situation.

The respective departments gave detailed briefing.

The CM while taking decisive steps to retrieve flood zones directed to get vacate all flood zones within three months. Ban on new constructions in these areas be ensured.

During the briefing it was told Supreme Court has already given decision regarding ban on constructions in flood zones.

The meeting agreed upon the proposal for constructing mini dams in 17 different areas in Punjab. Approval was given in principal for construction of bridge in Chiniot on completion of feasibility report.

It was decided to enhance potential of water reservoirs in Kala Bagh and Sidhnai. .

CM Punjab also directed to introduce inflatable technology dam technology in the province so that water flow could be controlled.
