Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued notices to Punjab government and other respondents on the petition filed against agriculture tax levy notifications.The court while calling report and parawise comments gave permission to make amended petition part of record. The court also ordered to fix the petition for hearing after summer vacations.The petitioner took the plea during the hearing of the case tax cannot be imposed through notification without legislation. The court heard the petition filed by Judicial Activism Panel including Muhammad Ejaz Shafi, Sheikh Imtiaz Mehmood and others.The petitioner requested the court that the statements issued under agriculture tax and demands and recovery proceedings be declared illegal. Tax can be imposed only through law under constitution.The petitioner told the court they have resorted to court for returning the amount received from agriculture community. LHC sought detailed reply from Punjab government regarding legal and constitutional justification of i mposition of agriculture tax.
