Karachi: Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui, President of the Epilepsy Foundation Pakistan, has said that merely managing an epilepsy patient during a seizure is not enough; real care begins after it. The main objective is to prevent repeated hospital visits and enable patients to lead a normal, safe life. The seminars, titled "Extending Care for Seizure Management," were organized in Islamabad and Lahore under the auspices of Getz Pharma, a leading pharmaceutical company in Pakistan.

The keynote speaker was Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui, Senior Consultant Neurologist at Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi, and President of the Epilepsy Foundation Pakistan. She delivered a detailed lecture on extending care for seizure management. Dr. Siddiqui stated that first-aid at the time of a seizure alone is insufficient. The real need is to extend this care to long-term prevention, safety planning, and its integration into the patient's lifestyle. She added that awareness is essential to dispel misconceptions and social stigma surrounding epilepsy in Pakistan. Regular medication, adequate sleep, and avoidance of triggers play a key role in controlling seizures.

In Islamabad, Prof. Dr. Mazhar Badshah, Consultant Neurologist and Stroke Specialist, and Dr. M. Usman Malik, Consultant Neurosurgeon, participated as panelists. Experts emphasized that epilepsy is a treatable condition and that modern medicines have significantly improved patients' lives. A large number of neurologists, neurosurgeons, physicians, and medical students attended the seminars.
