Lahore: On directions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, rescue and relief operations for flood affected people are underway. Provincial ministers and assembly members along with their respective Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and other relevant officers are present in the field to supervise these operations. Madam Chief Minister said,"Even flood could not hinder the journey of service. Rescue teams have set remarkable examples of compassion and service. They reached Drasaan Wali Bheini with a big boat when a resident of a distant village called for rescue in a state of helplessness after seeing his daughter's dowry drowning in flood. They removed the entire dowry from flood and safely transported it to a secure place." She aprreciated the dutiful staff of Field hospitals and Clinics-on-Wheels who are alerr to provide medical aid to flood affectees in Lahore, Sargodha, Bahawalpur and other flood-affected areas. Patients are provided with treatment and medicines at home. Diagnosis, medicines an d medical tests are also being conducted in flood-hit areas. At some places, medical staff of field hospitals even continued to work wearing life jackets.
Punjab Police also took lead in rescue and relief operation, as its personnels assisted in the evacuation of people from flood-affected areas. In Bahawalnagar and other flood-affected areas, police officers and personnels continued to take people out of flood on boats. People paid tribute to the policeman who rescued small children in his arms.
