SAJF Condemning the Killing of Journalists in Gaza

Islamabad: The South Asian Journalists Federation (SAJF) unequivocally condemns the killing of journalists in Gaza, where numerous media professionals have tragically lost their lives while bravely carrying out their duties. These heinous acts represent a direct attack on press freedom, truth, and the fundamental right to information. SAJF President Geetartha Pathak stated, 'The targeting of journalists in Gaza is an assault on the very pillars of democracy. Journalism is a vital profession that faces immense risks, and such violence undermines the public's right to know. We stand united in demanding justice and protection for our colleagues.' SAJF Secretary General Shakeel Ahmed added, 'Journalists are the voice of truth in conflict zones, and their loss is a loss for humanity. We call for immediate investigations, accountability for perpetrators, and robust measures to ensure the safety of media workers in Gaza and beyond.' The SAJF stands in solidarity with the families, colleagues, and communities of the fallen journalists. We urge the international community to act swiftly to investigate these killings, hold those responsible accountable, and implement urgent measures to protect journalists in conflict zones. All parties must respect the critical role of the media and safeguard those who risk their lives to report the truth.
