Islamabad: Senior lawyers and retired judges have written letter to Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) on the matter of 27th constitutional amendment.
It has been demanded from CJP through letter to convene full court meeting.
The letter is signed by Justice (Retd) Mushir Alam, Makhdoom Ali Khan, Munir A Malik , Abid Zubairi, Justice (Retd) Nadim Akhtar, Akram Sheikh, Anwar Mansoor, Ali Ahmad Kurd, Khawaja Ahmad Hussain and Salah ud Din Ahmad.
Senior lawyers and retired judges have said in the letter that reaction on the amendment be given being supreme court. Supreme Court is empowered to give its input on amendment.
The text of the letter said we are writing this letter under extraordinary y situation. SC is facing the biggest threat today since its establishment. No civil or military government succeeded in making SC Its subordinate institution.
It is written in the letter no such attempt was made in the past. if you agree this is first bid then giving reaction is right of SC.
