Islamabad: Pakistan has said world should take notice of Indian nuclear activities and its statements on blocking water flow.
Pakistan is aspirant for peaceful resolution of regional issues. Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Ishaq Dar has held important meetings during his visit to Tehran, this was said by Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi in his weekly press briefing here Thursday.
He said telephonic contact was made between DPM and Foreign Minister (FM) Ishaq Dar and FM Turkiye Hakan Fidan. The two exchanged views at length on evolving situation in the region and matters of mutual interest.
The two leaders while underlining the importance of resolving the problems through constraint and diplomatic channels expressed hope for reconciliation among the all parties soon.
He said Pakistani citizens are in the captivity of Somali pirates since the last 50 days. Government is making efforts consistently at administrative and diplomatic level for securing their release.
Government remains committed to securing the release of Pakistani citizens held by Somali pirates for nearly two months.
The MT Honour 25, carrying 17 crew members, including 10 Pakistanis, was hijacked by pirates near Somalia's semi-autonomous Puntland region on April 21. Families of the hostages have since voiced growing alarm, saying conditions on board have steadily deteriorated during the crew's captivity.
Andrabi mentioned that two days back, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar contacted Somali Foreign Minister, Abdul Salam Ali and he has not only emphasized on improving the living conditions of not just the 10 Pakistani crew members, 'but also seven other crew members of different nationalities, including those from Indonesia, India, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka'.
The Pakistani embassy in Djibouti, which is accredited to Mogadishu, has sent teams to Mogadishu to discuss the matter, he said.
Ambassador of Somalia in Islamabad too was summoned while efforts for securing release through inter-ministerial meetings are being made more effective.
The situation of the hostages is very sensitive and complicated because they are held in the semi-autonomous Puntland region of Somalia, which involves complex tribal societies, he added.
Pakistan Calls for Respect of Middle East Ceasefire
Pakistan has expressed deep concern over rising tensions in the Middle East and Gulf region, urging all parties to respect existing ceasefire agreements and adopt dialogue and diplomacy to resolve disputes.
Rejecting the Indian statements with reference to Occupied Kashmir FO spokesperson said Occupied Kashmir is an internationally recognized disputed area. Right to self determination should be given to the people of Kashmir in accordance with UN resolutions.
Pakistan will continue its political, diplomatic and moral support to people of Kashmir.
Reacting to international reports and the recent statement of Indian water minister on deployment of nuclear weapons, he said Pakistan does not support arms race in the region. However it is keeping watchful eye on the situation.
Pakistan urged international community to take serious notice of Indian nuclear activities and its statements on water.
Any bid for blocking essential water flows for 250 million Pakistanis will be considered threat to global peace and security. Such action can be considered an act of war.
Pakistan will continue its diplomatic efforts for peace, stability and peaceful resolution of disputes in the region.
