Court cannot issue directives on assumptions: LHC RWP bench

Rawalpindi: Justice Mirza Waqas Rauf of Lahore High Court Rawalpindi bench has remarked during hearing of petition against detention of deputy superintendent Adiala jail Rawalpindi the petitioner has no authentic information and the court cannot issue directives to any one on the basis of assumptions. He further remarked "The case has been registered and there is no such thing therein. Tell the court Muhammad Akram is in whose custody. The court while declaring reply of CPO Rawalpindi unsatisfactory summoned him again on August 29. The petitioner along with her son and counsel Imaan Mazaari was present in the court during hearing of case Tuesday. The counsel for the petitioner told the court deputy superintendent is missing since August 14 and police and any other institution is not providing any information of any sort. We suspect Muhammad Akram is in the custody of intelligence agencies. The court inquired Muhammad Akram is in the custody of which agency so that the court may issue directive to som e one because we can issue no directives on the basis of assumptions. The court further remarked you have no authentic information. Case has been registered and there is no such thing therein. Tell the court Muhammad Akram is under whose custody. The counsel for petitioner told the court FIR has been registered after hearing of our petition. The counsel took the plea the petition is maintainable. Report regarding deputy superintendent was filed by ministry of defence taking the plea Muhammad Akram is not in the custody of any subordinate institution of ministry of defence. Information was obtained from intelligence agencies about Muhammad Akram, therefore. petition regarding Muhammad Akram be disposed of to the extent of ministry of defence. Assistant Advocate General filed reply from CPO Rawalpindi. The reply said CPO Rawalpindi has sent letters to different institutions and police of all the four provinces has sought details about missing Muhammad Akram. Efforts are underway in regard to missing Muhammad Akram.. The court declaring the reply of CPO Rawalpindi unsatisfactory remarked it is a serious matter. Jail administration does not know so far their officer disappeared from jail how. It means prisoners and staff are not safe in jail. The court inquired where has writ of state gone. if any one discharges one's obligation then there can be no worry. The court remarked jail is sensitive place. Officer of jail is disappeared. It is job of police to search him. The court summoned CPO once again on August 29. Further hearing of the petition will take place on August 29.

3rd Annual “Hussain The Global Hope” cultural camp held

Rawalpindi: The third annual "Hussain The Global Hope" cultural camp organized by Hope Society Pakistan was held outside Arid Agricultural University. The objective of the camp was to promote peace, unity and tolerance in the beloved country by bringing people of every race, religion, creed, color and region together on a common point, of Hussainiat. In the camp, a unique activity titled "Ao Hurr Banen" (change for Hussain), was conducted in which various messages were written on cards and people were asked to take pledges. In the "Plant for Hussain" activity, free plants were distributed among the people in the name of Imam Hussain (A.S.) to make the beloved country green. In the 'Books for Hussain' activity, free books were distributed to promote Book Reading and love for knowledge in the name of Hussain. To express solidarity with the oppressed Palestinians, "Palestine Exhibition" was organized and various items were distributed to raise awareness of the Palestine issue among the people. People penned their feelings for the Palestine with "one sentence for Palestine". Representatives from different youth societies , religious organisations, sects and communities visited camp and laid down practical example of Hope, Peace and Unity.

23 passengers gunned down by armed men in Balochistn

Quetta: Armed men have gunned down 23 persons after off loading them from buses and trucks in district Musakhel. The armed men shot them after identifying them. SSP Musakhel told the media men that the armed men off loaded all the passengers from buses and trucks and killed them by opening fire. The armed men blocked the interprovincial high way and off loaded the passengers from buses. They killed passengers after identifying them. They set ablaze 10 vehicles too. On information Police and Levies rushed to the site and shifted the bodies to hospital. Investigation into the incident has been started as well. Balochistan government Shahid Rind said Musakhel area lies adjacent to Dera Ghazi Khan. Enough security is not there on small highway. Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has strongly condemned the incident besides seeking report of the incident from law enforcement agencies

23 passengers killed after being forcibly offloaded from their vehicles by armed assailants in Balochistan’s Musakhel district

MUSAKHE: In a horrifying incident in Balochistan's Musakhel district, 23 passengers were killed after being forcibly offloaded from their vehicles by armed assailants. According to Musakhel SP Ayub Achakzai, the attack occurred at a checkpoint set up by the armed men on the inter-provincial highway near Rarah Sham area of Khangri, about two kilometres from Dera Ghazi Road. The assailants forced passengers off trucks and buses and shot them after identifying them. The attackers also set fire to 10 vehicles before fleeing the scene. Police and levies forces arrived promptly and transported the bodies to a hospital. Most of the deceased were reported to be from Punjab. Speaking during a private TV channel, Balochistan government's spokesperson Shahid Rind said that the militants had attacked on two to three fonts where they faced retaliation and resistance from the security forces and law enforcement agencies (LEAs). However, he added, that the terrorists exploited the dark to carry out the Musakhel attack where they offloaded the passengers from the buses and shot them after identification. Underscoring the provincial government's resolve to address the law and order issue, Rind said that Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Khan Bugti had summoned a meeting wherein "important decisions" would be made. "To find a way out of this situation, a wholesome approach is required by any political government or security forces and support is needed from all schools of thought,' he said. Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari hit out at the terrorists who snuffed lights out of lives of innocent people. They expressed grief over the loss of lives and said it was the murder of humanity. They offered condolences to the bereaved families and resolved to bring the perpetrators to justice. The prime minister directed the authorities concerned to ensure best possible treatment of the injured. Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also condemned the terrorist attack in the stron gest terms and expressed deep sympathy and condolences to the victims' families. Naqvi stated that the terrorists demonstrated extreme cruelty by targeting the innocent people near Musakhel. He pledged that the terrorists and their accomplices would face severe consequences. The minister also acknowledged the immense sacrifices made by security forces and all segments of society in the ongoing fight against terrorism. Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti strongly condemned the incident of terrorism. He expressed heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the families of those who died in the cowardly act of terrorists, according to a statement issued from his office. The terrorists and their facilitators will not be able to escape an exemplary end, he said, adding that the Balochistan government will pursue the terrorists. Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar Advocate strongly condemned the brutality of the terrorists. 'The terrorists showed brutality by targeting innocent passengers ne ar Musakhail,' he was quoted as saying in a statement on X posted by PML-N. 'The terrorists and their facilitators will not be able to escape an exemplary end,' he said. Attaullah Tarar said the terrorists showed brutality by targeting innocent passengers. He said the terrorists and facilitators involved in this incident will be brought to justice. He expressed heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved families. Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori termed the incident worrying, saying: 'No matter how much this incident is condemned, it is not enough. 'Killing passengers by offloading them from the bus is the worst kind of brutality,' he said in a statement on X. 'The elements involved in this abominable act will reach their end,' he said. 'With the support of the people, the security forces will eliminate these elements soon.' Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan and Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz have also condemned the terrorist attack and expressed deep sorrow on the tragic incident. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Gover nor Faisal Karim Kundi and Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur have strongly condemned the terrorist incident in Musakhel district of Balochistan. In separate statements in Peshawar on Monday, they both expressed grief over the killing of twenty-three passengers after their identification in the incident.

Govt will be able to reduce power tariff within one year: Sardar Awais Leghari

Multan: Federal Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari has said that government is trying its best to resolve issues relating to power sector and complaints of electricity consumers. Talking to media in Multan on Monday, Awais Leghari said that government will be able to reduce power tariff within one year. He said that steps are being taken to reduce electricity theft up to 40 percent as compared to the last financial year. Sardar Awais Leghari said that WAPDA is going to introduce prepaid meters for the consumers so that they could use electricity according to their affordability. He said the issues of tariff and capacity charges will be resolved keeping in view the relevant laws and taking all the stake holders into confidence. He said that distribution companies have been directed to solve the complaints of consumers at earliest and improve their customer care and complaint centers.

Quetta: Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Khan Bugti has reiterated the resolve to root out the menace of terrorism from the province. Addressing media along with representative of the allied parties in Quetta on Monday, Sarfraz Bugti said we will never sit silent over the incidence of terrorism and will take every possible measure to curb it. Condemning the recent incident of terror in strong words, he said from today we will not listen to propaganda tools that are aimed at getting sympathy and will take robust action against all involved in spoiling peace of the land. He said some forces are maligning government through propaganda after acquiring sympathy through different means. He said all those political forces who keep soft corners for the spoilers of peace should rethink. The Chief Minister said to fight the war against terrorism and restore peace in the province, we will improve response time on highways while the capacity of CTD and police will also be enhanced. Smart kinetic approach w ill be adopted to target these terrorist elements. He said there is no good or bad violence, we have to deal all kind of violence equally. The Chief Minister said we have all circumstantial evidences of this intelligence driven war that is aimed at weakening the state. He said some people are also becoming its part indirectly and unknowingly. He said they are advised not to become part of their propaganda tools. The Chief Minister said door of dialogue is always open for those who want to surrender for peace otherwise no one will be allowed to spread violence. He categorically said the government will establish its writ no matter how strong measures will be taken. To a question, he said regarding missing person the government made a commission and 84 percent of the cases have been resolved, but, unfortunately in every dialogue the parties put other demands than staying focused on resolving this specific issue.
