Kashmir Centre Report: Horrific year of 2016 when Indian forces tried to collectively blind Kashmiris while using pellet guns

London: The Kashmir Centre London while reviving the tyrannies of Indian forces in 2016 in occupied Kashmir has released the documentary video on social media platforms while terming it as the 'Summer of Mass Blindings'.According to the report, more than 100 civilians were killed. Over 15,000 were injured. Hundreds were partially or fully blinded by pellet gun fire, a weapon that fires metal pellets in a wide spread pattern and cannot be aimed with any precision. The British newspaper 'The Guardian' published a report headlined "Is this the world's first mass blinding?" The New York Times described it as an "epidemic of dead eyes".The martyrdom of Burhan Muzaffar Wani on 8 July 2016 triggered one of the most ferocious episodes of occupation violence in Kashmir's modern history.According to the report, Indian occupation forces deployed pellet guns, tear gas, rubber bullets and live ammunition against civilian crowds. The Amnesty International called for an immediate ban on pellet guns in Kashmir. The Ind ian occupation apparatus ignored the call. Pellet guns remain in use against Kashmiri protesters to this day.According to the report, now a decade later, Jio Studios, the Bollywood outpost of Reliance Industries which recently made a 1.2 billion investment in defence infrastructure for India - claims 'limited damage' of pellets as entertainment for the masses.Regardless of how propaganda akin to films by the Third Reich tried to manipulate the narrative, we will not forget or let it be forgotten. Remember, because remembrance is resistance.
