Islamabad: National Assembly (NA) has approved National Forensic Agency (NFA) bill with majority vote.The bill was presented by interior minister Mohsin Naqvi. This bill has already been approved by Senate.It has been said in the objectives of bill the headquarters of NFA will be established in Islamabad. NFA will be authorized to provide services to all provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir.NFA will be harmonized with the potential of doing forensic of electronic devices, digital forensic, cyber forensic, deep fake and other electronics.The agency will be empowered through legislation. Departments of research, forensic and digital forensic will be set up with the establishment of NFA.Digital forensic department will assist in national security related matters. Agency will provide services to Lab and law enforcement agencies.Agency will preserve digital forensic material and forensic agency will provide service to assist court as expert.As per law agency will work under a board of go vernors. Board will have one chairperson and 4 members. Chairperson will be secretary of respective division. IG Islamabad, national coordinator of TECHNA and DG of national police bureau will be included.A 3-member executive committee will be constituted to control financial and administrative control of agency.It will be authorized to exercise powers of board in any emergency situation.DG of agency will be appointed within six months of after approval of law. DG of NFA will not be holding dual nationality.
