ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has extended till next hearing its order for stopping the implementation of death sentence awarded to three Navy officers during court martial. Justice Babar Sattar heard the petition of former Navy officers who were awarded death sentence.Report from Pakistan Navy was presented in IHC. Pakistan NAVY said in its reply the proceeding of court martial cannot be shared. Justice Babar Sattar questioned representative of Pakistan Navy you want I decide the case. The representative of Pakistan Navy sought time from the court for obtaining directives. Justice Babar Sattar remarked You are not telling the reasons as to why the death sentence was awarded. Telling this that why death sentence was awarded is not secret issue.Justice Babar Sattar remarked only one question is before me why the death sentence was awarded.The court while accepting the plea of obtaining directives adjourned the hearing of the case. It was said in the petition that death sentence was awarded in court martial but the assistance of lawyer was not provided. Evidence and documents of court of inquiry were not shared with the accused. Appeal was filed that the death sentence was awarded without giving access to these documents But it was rejected.Former officers of Pakistan Navy including Arsalan Nazir Satti, Muhammad Hammad, Muhammad Tahir, Hammad Ahmad Khan and Irfan Ullah have filed appeal pleas.The next date of hearing will be issued in written order.
