Islamabad: A 27-member delegation from the 11th National Parliamentary Development Course (NPDC) visited the Parliament House in Islamabad today. Senior officers of the Senate Secretariat welcomed the participants and briefed them on parliamentary functions and institutional responsibilities.

Director General Research and Coordination, Ms. Iffat Mustafa, delivered a detailed presentation titled 'Custodians of Parliamentary Dignity, Institutional Image, Trust, and the Role of Parliamentary Officers.' She underscored the central role of Parliament in addressing public issues, formulating policies, and overseeing government affairs. Highlighting the importance of parliamentary staff, she noted that officers serve as the backbone of the institution, performing their duties with neutrality and adherence to rules, thereby ensuring effective support to Parliament. She added that improved officer performance strengthens both Parliament and the nation.

Ms. Mustafa emphasized the national importance of familiarizing NPDC participants with parliamentary systems, democratic norms, and constitutional frameworks, noting that trained and informed officers are vital for enhancing institutional efficiency.

The delegation also toured the Senate Museum, where they were briefed on the Senate's history, legislative journey, and constitutional responsibilities. Their visit included a stop at the Gali-e-Dastoor, where they learned about Pakistan's constitutional evolution and historic documents. The group later visited the Senate Hall for insights into the procedures, traditions, and conduct of Upper House sessions.
