Rawalpindi: Three Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) personnel embraced martyrdom while four others sustained injuries after terrorists attempted to storm a Rangers camp in Karachi, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Sunday.
According to the military's media wing, the attack was carried out on June 27 by militants identified by the ISPR as Khwarij belonging to the Indian proxy group Jamaat-ul-Ahrar.
The terrorists first detonated an explosive at the camp's main gate before attempting to breach the perimeter. However, Rangers troops mounted a swift and determined response, successfully foiling the attack.
During the exchange of fire, security forces killed three attackers and captured another injured militant, who was identified as an Afghan national.
The ISPR said three Rangers personnel embraced Shahadat in the line of duty while four soldiers were wounded during the operation.
Sanitization operations are underway in the area to eliminate any remaining militants. The military said Pakistan's security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue their counter-terrorism campaign under the vision of "Azm-e-Istehkam" to eradicate what it described as foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
The ISPR further stated that Pakistan would undertake retribution operations against those responsible for the attack to avenge the martyrdom of its soldiers.
Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir expressed profound condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers and paid tribute to their sacrifice, stating that their bravery further reinforces Pakistan's unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation at all costs.
