All the chief justices of SC are responsible on non fixation of the appeal for hearing since 2017: SC

Islamabad: Supreme Court (SC) has expressed sorrow over hearing of appeal plea of a convict after completion of his sentence and his release from jail.Justice Athar Minallah remarked Wednesday All the chief justices from 2017 are responsible regarding non fixation of the appeal plea for hearing. SC too is responsible for non fixation of appeal plea administratively.He further remarked president, governor and parliament have powers to summon report from judiciary. Reforms are needed in investigation and penal system.Justice Shahzad Malik remarked number of judges was increased in SC . There is need to increase number of judges in subordinate courts including Anti Terrorism Court and special court. There is shortage of judges and staff in general jails.Infrastructure should also be provided besides increasing number of judges.The case pertaining to life imprisonment came up for hearing in SC.Disclosure of fixing of appeal plea of accused Usman for hearing after completion of jail sentence and his release from jail was made.A 3-member bench of SC presided over by Justice Jamal Mandokhail took up the case for hearing.Public prosecutor said the accused has been acquitted after completing his sentence in jail in this case.Justice Jamal Mandokhail remarked the accused filed petition against conviction in 2017.Deputy Attorney General (DAG) KP Kausar Ali said powers rest with some one else. These are cases of common people. Province should also do justice in criminal and service cases.The court wrapped up the case due to release of petitioner from jail after completing the sentence.
