Khadija Shah files bail plea in LHC in May 9 riots, arson case

LAHORE: The renowned fashion designer Khadija Shah has filed bail plea in Lahore High Court (LHC) in May 9 riots and arson case.

Khadija Shah has taken plea in the petition Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) rejected bail plea against the facts.

She requested the court to accept her bail plea.

Khadija Shah filed bail after arrest plea in LHC in Askari tower attack case.

It is pertinent to mention here ATC Lahore while rejecting police plea for granting more physical remand of Khadija Shah in Askari tower attack case had ordered to send her to jail on 14 days judicial remand.

Islamabad Club Reds wins Islamabad Club Cricket League Title

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Club Reds clinched the title of Islamabad Club Cricket League by defeating Islamabad Club Blues by 10 wickets here at Oval cricket ground Islamabad.

Majid Khan, the former captain of Pakistan cricket team was the chief guest of the final while former PCB chief operating officer Shafaqat Naghmi, Islamabad Club Cricket Committee senior member Zubair Nasir, Test cricketer Yasir Hameed and others dignities were also attended the concluding ceremony.

In the final, Islamabad Club Blues scored 175 runs for 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs thanks to Ashas Gill’s 89 and Raza Akram's 25 runs, while Ahmed Taj dismissed 3 players by scoring 36 runs. In response, Islamabad Reds achieved the required target in 13th over with unbeatable opening partnership between Umer Kiyani and Salman Chaudhry of 176 runs.

Thanks to Umer Kayani's who scored unbeatable century with 10 massive sixes and 6 fours in just 40 balls while Salman Chaudhry played innings of 72 runs. Umar Kayani was declared the player of the tournament along with the match of the match of the final.

Meanwhile speaking on the occasion Majid Khan has expressed concern over the decline in Test cricket matches and said that ICC's first priority is Test cricket, but here the work is going backwards as T20 cricket is being played here as first priority and then ODI cricket. He said that the ICC had made a policy of playing three Test matches, but now the Test Championship matches are being reduced and there is going to be a series of one Test match series from next year.

PBBF calls trials for National Basketball Team

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF) has called top national players for the trials to select the national basketball team which will participate in the upcoming four nation basketball championship in Maldives later this year.

According to the Associate Secretary of Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF) Ouj E Zahoor, the top players nominated by the affiliated departments, provinces, and divisions of the of Pakistan Basketball Federation will participate in the three-day trials which will start on May 5 and continue till May 7 at the Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad.

He said that in the first phase of the trials on May 5th and 6th, top divisional and provincial players will show their skills while in the second phase, departmental top players will have trials on May 6th and 7th.

Ouj E Zahoor said that the national selection committee under the leadership of chief selector Colonel (retd) Shujaat Ali Rana and the members including Muhammad Riaz Malik, DSP Malik Ijaz and Maudood Jafri will observe the participating players during these days. The national selection committee will shortlist the names of the players for the training camp of the national basketball team after the three-day trials.

“Pakistan team will participate in the four-nation basketball championship to be held in Maldives this year”. The secretary General Pakistan Basketball Federation Khalid Bashir will announce the training and coaching plan for the selected players as the national team will go through extensive training camp for the preparation of the international event”. This participation will also help in preparing the team and players for the South Asian Games which are expected to be held in Pakistan in 2024.

Sports : key to harness youth potential says NA Speaker

Islamabad: Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that youth in Pakistan has lot of potential and Sports is the best way to harness youth potential positively. He said that Pakistan is blessed with talented youth who can perform wonders in all walks of life including sports . He experssed these view during his meeting with members of Pakistan Junior tennis team led by Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination Ehsan ur rehman Mazari in Parliament House Today.

The Speaker extended warm felicitation to Pakistan Junior Tennis Team for creating history by qualifying for the World Group of the World Junior Tennis (WJT) after a gap of 27 years .He also extended heartiest congratulations to the captain, players, parents, and coaches and wished them success in the future particularly for the upcoming ITF World Group finals, scheduled for August this year in Czech Republic.

While appreciating the talent of Pakistani youth in all sports , speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf has also encouraged team members to fully utilize their potential for benefits of nation.He expressed his confidence that one day this team would prove pride for Pakistan.
