Lahore: Pakistan's national cricketer Fakhar Zaman visited Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan's residential institution, Aghosh College Murree, where he inaugurated a newly developed sports ground for orphan children and encouraged them to pursue their dreams through hard work, discipline and quality education.
The students gave the visiting cricketer a warm welcome upon his arrival. During the visit, Fakhar Zaman toured the college's academic, residential and hostel facilities and appreciated Alkhidmat Foundation's efforts in providing orphan children with international-standard education, accommodation, training and sports facilities. He also spent time playing cricket with the students and joined them for lunch.
Addressing the students after inaugurating the sports ground, Fakhar Zaman shared different stages of his journey to international cricket and said that hard work, consistency, discipline and quality education formed the foundation of a successful future. He urged the students to remain committed to their goals and continue striving with dedication. "Respect for teachers, devotion to education and a positive mindset are the keys to success," he said.
Fakhar Zaman described Alkhidmat Foundation's Aghosh Homes project as "a beacon of hope" for orphan children, saying it provided them with quality education, a safe environment and equal opportunities to build a dignified future.
He also revealed that he personally supports Alkhidmat Foundation's Orphan Care Programme as a donor and appealed to philanthropists to join hands with the organisation in sponsoring orphan children and supporting welfare initiatives such as Aghosh Homes so that more children could receive quality education, proper upbringing and a brighter future.
During the visit, the college administration briefed the national cricketer on Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan's Orphan Care Programme and the Aghosh Homes project.
Speaking on the occasion, Aghosh College Murree Principal Azam Khan said millions of orphan children in Pakistan required special attention and that Alkhidmat Foundation had been working for years to provide them with education, care and opportunities for a dignified future.
He said the foundation was currently supporting nearly 35,000 orphan children across the country through its Orphan Care Programme. More than 2,000 children were residing in 24 Aghosh Homes, where they were provided with quality education, secure accommodation, healthcare, religious and moral education, sports and co-curricular activities, along with a modern learning environment designed to promote their overall personality development.
Appreciating the foundation's services, Fakhar Zaman said the Aghosh Homes initiative was not merely about supporting orphan children financially but about nurturing confident, educated, responsible and morally upright citizens who could contribute positively to society.
