Federal Constitutional Court Orders Old-Age Pension for Private Sector Employees

Islamabad: The Federal Constitutional Court has directed the Employees Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) to provide monthly old-age pensions to all eligible private-sector employees.

The court ruled that employees who have completed 14.5 years of service are entitled to pension benefits, counting it as 15 years of service. All appeals filed by EOBI have been dismissed, upholding Lahore High Court's decisions from 2024 and 2025.

A three-member bench, led by Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan, announced the verdict, with Justice Hasan Azhar Rizvi issuing the written judgment. The court stated that Lahore High Court's rulings are correct and there is no scope for interference.

The judgment clarified that EOBI's 2022 circular cannot affect employees' pension rights.
