GHQ attack case: Court seeks reply from AG Punjab on petition against video link trial in GHQ attack case


Rawalpindi: Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi division bench has sought reply from Advocate General (AG) Punjab within a week on petition against video link trial in GHQ attack case.



Division bench comprised Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan and Justice Tahir Mehmood Bajwa.



Sardar Latif Khosa and Faisal Malik counsels for the former chairman PTI appeared in the court during the preliminary hearing of the case.



The counsels took the plea fair trial of such important case is not possible on video link. The statements of only 31 witnesses were recorded in the presence of petitioner while the remaining accused which are nominated in the case appear in the court. Only former chairman PTI is presented through video link. Half trial of case has taken place in jail. In this perspective there is no justification for Punjab government notification regarding video link trial.



The counsels for the petitioner requested the court former chairman PTI be presented in the court or his trial be conducted in jail.



After hearing the preliminary arguments The court sought reply from AG Punjab within a week.



The court adjourned hearing of the case.



It is pertinent to mention here former chairman PTI has challenged government notification about video link trial in May 9, GHQ attack case.
