Islamabad: Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has chalked out a comprehensive route plan for heavy traffic during the Champions Trophy matches.
According to a spokesman of the Islamabad Traffic Police, traffic diversion plans have been prepared for different times on 24th, 25th and 27th of this month.
During these days, entry will be restricted for all types of heavy traffic from 7:00 a.m to 1:30 a.m in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Heavy traffic traveling from Peshawar to Lahore should use the Taxila Motorway and Tarnol Railway Crossing to the Fateh Jang Motorway.
Those coming from Lahore via GT Road towards Islamabad and Rawalpindi should take Chak Beli Road to Chakri Motorway.
Similarly, vehicles traveling from Peshawar to Rawat should use the Taxila Motorway, Chakri, Chak Beli Road, and Rawat.
Travelers from Lahore to Peshawar should follow the Rawat, Chak Beli Road, Chakri, and Taxila Motorway route.
Due to these arrangements, traffic congestion is expected on Srinagar Highway and the Expressway in Islamabad.
The residents of Islamabad and Rawalpindi are advised to use alternative routes to avoid delays.
Islamabad Traffic Police personnel will be deployed at key locations to guide commuters.

Meanwhile Inspector General of Police Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, chaired an important meeting in Islamabad today to review security arrangements for the ICC Champions Trophy matches.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from both Islamabad and Punjab police.
During the meeting, a detailed briefing was given on the security plans for the cricket teams.
Addressing the meeting, the Inspector General of Islamabad Police said a total of five thousand and eight hundred police personnel will be deployed to ensure security during the Champions Trophy matches.
Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi emphasized that top-level security will be ensured during the arrival and departure of the cricket teams. He said citizens will be informed about alternative routes to maintain smooth traffic flow. The movement of traffic will be closely monitored with drone cameras and smart vehicles.
Meanwhile, Safe City Islamabad is conducting surveillance with over nine hundred cameras during the movement of the cricket teams.
All routes and accommodations are also being monitored with drone cameras, over two hundred body-worn cameras, and vehicle tracking systems.
The virtual patrolling officers and technical teams are performing their duties round-the-clock in Safe City Islamabad to ensure security for ICC Champion Trophy matches.
