Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed the concerned authorities to enforce a strict ban on wall chalking throughout the province and transform encroached and defaced walls into clean, beautiful spaces.
Officials briefed the Chief Minister that, under her directives, a historic beautification plan is being implemented across Punjab for the first time. Walls of government and private buildings will be cleaned of all chalking, while 132 beautification schemes worth Rs 16.5 billion are underway in 39 districts, with work already initiated on 122 projects.
Authorities informed that beautification schemes in Lahore, Bahawalpur, DG Khan, Sargodha, Gujarat, Faisalabad, and Rawalpindi will be completed by June 2026. Projects in Multan are expected to conclude by November, in Gujranwala by December, and in Sahiwal by March 2026. The plan also includes road and market upgradation, installation of tuff tiles, and remodeling of ancient gates and traditional markets to enhance urban aesthetics across Punjab.
