IHC abolishes court proceedings against 36 lawyers in attack on CJ IHC block case

Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has abolished ongoing contempt of court proceedings against all 36 lawyers in the case pertaining to attack on Chief Justice (CJ) block in 2021.

Acting Chief Justice (ACJ) of IHC Sarfraz Dogar heard case pertaining to February 8, 2021 attack on chief justice block Wednesday.

The affidavits of the lawyers involved in the case were filed in IHC.

Member Islamabad Bar Council Adil Aziz Qazi, Babar Awan and officer bearers of Bar Association appeared in the court on behalf of the lawyers.

Adil Aziz Qazi argued this is case of 2021. The court had sought affidavits in last hearing which were filed. The case was discharged from Islamabad Bar Council too.

Advocate Babar Awan said one incident occurred which occurred due to strike. But police made it much more. Over five years have passed and the case is still running. This should be abolished now.

Former president High Court Bar Raja Zahid and other lawyers were included in the case. Former secretary bar Tassadaq Hanif has already been discharged by the court.
