Pakistan, Egypt Launch Joint Counter-Terrorism Exercise Thunder-II in Cherat

Rawalpindi: Pakistan and Egypt have commenced a joint counter-terrorism exercise, 'Thunder-II,' aimed at enhancing professional capabilities and strengthening bilateral military cooperation.According to ISPR, the two-week exercise began on April 6, 2026, at the Special Operations School in Cherat. Troops from the Pakistan Army's Special Services Group (SSG) and the Egyptian Army's Special Forces are participating in the exercise.The Commandant of the Special Operations School attended the opening ceremony as the chief guest. The exercise focuses on joint training and aims to enhance operational skills in counter-terrorism while promoting the exchange of expertise and experiences between the two forces.The initiative reflects the longstanding defence ties between Pakistan and Egypt and underscores their commitment to cooperation in addressing shared security challenges.
